Listen . . .It’s so quiet. Everyone is still sleeping. . . even the dogs. OK, I take that back. The cats are up . . . so I suppose not EVERYONE is still sleeping. I am sipping a cup of coffee, savoring the warmth of the cup in my hands. This time of the morning, on what promises to be a very busy day, is so peaceful. Within a few minutes there will be stirring in the rest of the house and breakfast to prepare before getting on with the business of finishing up the few dishes that couldn’t be made in advance. Until I go to bed tonight, this is the only quiet time this house will have. And that’s a good thing. The sounds filling up the silence will be laughter, conversation and the beautiful sounds of family being together and enjoying each other’s company.
If there is anything to be thankful for today – it’s the blessing of family. Yes, the food is great, the preparation is fun, but that isn’t what it is all about for me. Looking around the table as we take each others hands and ask God’s blessing on the food, I know that THIS is what I am most thankful for.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We thank You so very much for the gifts you have given to us this day, and every day. Thank You for family, for friends, and for providing for our needs. We ask this day for Your protection for those traveling to and from their celebrations, and that their hearts be filled with the wonder of Your love.
In Jesus Name,
God bless each of my wonderful readers and your families today. As you spend time with those you love, and mourn those missing around your tables, please remember to rejoice in the ones who are there and know that there is always something to be thankful for, and there is always something to celebrate. I hear people starting to get up . . . I guess I’d better start breakfast. God Bless You. I’ll see you tomorrow.
P.S. Happy Hanukkah!!!
