Humor Month – Joke of the Day   This is another one that if it weren’t so eerily real, it would be funny . . . or is it?

Bob’s Aunt passed away this past January.  Her bank billed her for February and March for their monthly service charge to her credit card, and then added late fees and interest on the monthly charge.  The balance had been $0.00, but had now grown to somewhere around $60.00.  He placed the following call to the bank:
Bob:  “I am calling to tell you that she died in January.”
Bank: “The account was never closed and the late fees and charges still apply.”
Bob : “Maybe, you should turn it over to collections…”
Bank: “Since it is two months past due, it already has been.”
Bob: “So, what will they do when they find out she is dead?”
Bank: “Either report her account to the frauds division, or report her to the credit bureau…maybe both!”
Bob: “Do you think God will be mad at her?”
Bank:”Do I think God… excuse me, what did you say?”
Bob: “She’s dead! Do you understand what I was telling you . . . specifically the part about her being . . . DEAD?”
Bank: “Sir, you’ll have to speak to my supervisor!”
(Supervisor gets on the phone)
Bob: “I’m calling to tell you, she deceased in January.”
Bank: “The account was never closed and the late fees and charges still apply.”
Bob: “You mean you want to collect from her estate?”
Bank: “…..(stammer)” …. “Are you her lawyer?”
Bob: “No, I’m her great nephew, but feel free to contact her lawyer at: XXX”
Bank: “Could you fax us a certificate of death?”
Bob: “Sure.”
( Later, After they have gotten the fax. )
Bank: “Our system just isn’t setup to handle this…”
Bob: “Oh…”
Bank: “I don’t know what more I can do to help…”
Bob: “Well… if you figure it out, great! If not, you could just keep billing her… I suppose…don’t really think she will care….”
Bank: “Well…the late fees and charges do still apply.”
Bob: “Would you like her new billing address?”
Bank: “That might help.”
Bob: “Fredrickson Memorial Cemetery, Hwy 19 and plot number 233.”
Bank: “Sir, that’s a cemetery!”
Bob: “Yes sir, that’s what we do with our departed loved ones.”

Ah yes – the futile attempts at making someone who lives by a script understand what we are saying.

All is Ours Day  – what a spectacular celebration!  The limits are set only by the imagination, and of course your budget and work constraints (the awesome ones always seem to land on a work day).  This day is for “us”  –  so whoever you’d like to share it with!  Brilliant!  The possibilities are endless, so it will be a great day!  So pretty much whatever you choose to do with your day, and whosoever you choose to share it with, is entirely up to you.  I think my nights after work are pretty near perfect as they are, so I’ll do what I usually do on a work night – come home, get my exercising done, and spend the evening with my hubby.  It truly doesn’t get much better than that.

Draw a Picture of a Bird Day – This is a good day for bird enthusiasts who like to draw.  Doesn’t matter if you’re young, or not so young, if you like to draw, then this is the day to draw a couple of pictures of a bird . . . or two . . . or three.   Look around for a nice bird to drawn and begin!    Don’t forget to autograph your picture – you never know! Some day it may be famous!

Trading Cards For Grown-ups Day –   A lot of people think that trading cards are for kids.  They used to come in bubble gum packs, so by default it would be for kids, right? Wrong.  When I was about 27 years old I went to work for a magazine and book distributor – we provided all the books and magazine to all the stores from the Canadian border, all the way south through Seattle.  One of our other categories? Trading Cards! They were kept in a corner of our warehouse under lock and key – I had no idea they were actually that valuable, but apparently they still are!  It always amazed me how many different kinds of cards we would get in – sports of all kinds, cars, trucks, cartoon characters, movie themes, you name it- they had cards for it!  If you’ve even seen the movie “Blast From The Past”, you saw the main character selling his father’s trading cards for LOTS of money – that wasn’t just movie fiction, that was reality. Cards are BIG business, so if you run across an estate sale and there’s a box of old cards on the table, don’t be shy about buying it for a reasonable price – you may have a treasure trove on your hands!  Today celebrate being a grown up and go browse a trading card store.  What you find may surprise you!

National Empanada Day – The Spanish and South American answer to the pot pie, these savory little pastries are impossible to resist!

Today was a little light on the celebrations, and I honestly felt we needed a break (translate that into I needed a little break) from the intensity of it all.  Sometimes the busy days just bring on SO much to learn about so I can pass it on to you!)  I haven’t done monthlies or weeklies for a couple of days also, but if you really being that busy,  you can refer back to the 1st post of the month and pick some . . . then tell me how you did!  Have a blessed Monday, a wonderful work week and a truly good time celebrating and making today whatever you want it to be.  God bless you and I’ll see you tomorrow!
