Good Morning and a Beautiful Wednesday to you! The morning has started out slightly foggy, with the air blessedly cool after yesterday’s heat. I can still hear the foghorn I the distance, at the lighthouse, but know it won’t be needed for very much longer as I see the sun begin to break through the grey and blue sky start to be visible. This usually means it will be another scorcher of a day, and that I will soon have to close up the windows and the blinds in an attempt to keep it cool in here. My plan for the day is to putter around the house and do my best to accomplish as much as possible without overheating. It’s a good goal, don’t you think?
Today’s celebrations are limited to the food, and oh what a happy food celebration it is! I figured that I would share something that makes MY heart happy today with you, something that makes me smile. Yesterday the Beautiful Baby B met with her Auntie K (my beautiful daughter) for the very first time. Seeing them bond just makes my heart sing. Such joy!
This Day In History –
1956 – Dick Clark hosts American Bandstand for the very first time.
Food Celebration of the Day –
National Sugar Cookie Day – ah the memories sugar cookies bring to the surface. Mom always made them and put frosting on them for whatever color was best suited to her mood or a nearby holiday. I usually only make them for Christmas, but they are actually a great treat year round in whatever shapes fit the season. They just hit the spot when your sweet tooth is going crazy wanting something delicious. Sugar cookies are great for young and old alike. They are one of those things you just can’t get enough of – stopping at one would drive you crazy! Simple to make, delicately sweet, wonderful plain or decorated . . . try some today. Here are some interesting recipes to try . . . the potato chip sugar cookies look particularly intriguing. Notice I didn’t say good, but intriguing.
Sweet – literally! What a wonderful day – short, simple and filled with happy thoughts. Sad thing is, most of us are experiencing hot weather, and who wants to heat up the house to bake? Not me! Speaking of heat – it’s time to close up the windows and lock in what cool we have in here! God Bless You and I’ll see you tomorrow!
