Please, Take A Moment and Pray – National Day of Prayer

May 2nd

I’d like to start out today by wishing my parents a Happy 49th Wedding Anniversary!  Through bad times and good, they’ve traveled the road together for all of these years.  Love you! Today is . . .

National Day of Prayer (First Thursday) – Our nation has been observing days of prayer since President George Washington issued a proclamation to do so in 1775.  This day was officially declared to be the National Day of Prayer by Congress in 1952.  In that amount of time only 2 Presidents have not made a Day of Prayer proclamation – the current resident of the White House being one of them.  The screaming and gnashing of teeth by atheists to put a stop to this special day makes me angry and it makes me sad.  The majority of people who appreciate and observe this celebration, being one with the nation for one day, and having our voices out shouted by trouble makers makes me want to push and shout back.  They wish to silence the voice of God in our country, they want to silence US who follow Him!  I will NOT be silenced!  I will not let them tell me what I can and cannot do!  If that means standing on a street corner and praying at the top of my lungs, so be it! Dear Heavenly Father, our country needs You today, and every day.    Our leaders need You, our citizens need You.  Those who oppose You are so busy shoving You out of our schools, government buildings and now even our public places, that they fail to realize that they are running full speed into the doom of the nation we love, and that our forefathers created with You at the center of it all.  Please Father, have mercy on our country, save us from the damage that is being done, and let us be strong and follow You no matter who tries to intimidate us into silence.  Help us to stay strong and true to You.  In Your Name I pray, Amen. Pray for our country today – pray for it every day.  It is needed now like at no time in the history of our country.
National Day of Reason(First Thursday) – This ridiculous (yes, that’s my opinion – but my blog, my thoughts!) day was set up by the atheist contingent in direct opposition to the National Day of Prayer.  I will not dignify this insult to prayer with any further coverage.

Baby Day – and today we celebrate babies! At least I think that’s what this day does.  This celebration is recorded in various websites and with e-dard companies, but I couldn’t find anything listed showing actual information to define what the creator of the day intended.  Being logical though, I would assume that this day was created to celebrate babies in all their wonderful, adorable cuteness.  I know what the popular secular opinion is right now, and it sickens me.  Babies are human beings, individuals in their own right, from the MOMENT OF CONCEPTION.  God tells us in His word that He knew us in our mother’s wombs, from the moment we were conceived.  The sickening murder of 1000’s and 1000’s of babies each year, all made legal and put in sterilized terms to avoid stating the truth, is a horror that I cannot begin to describe.  LOOK at the beautiful child in the picture above.  THIS little human being is a gift from God, as are all children.  Celebrate baby day by appreciating the sanctity of life.  Life is not a choice, life is a gift, a precious one.  If you can spend time with a little one today, enjoy the sweet moments with them.  They go by far too fast.  As a side note – there was also a movie called Baby Day that aired in 1913.  It was a black and white silent movie.

Brothers and Sisters Day – much like April 10th – National Sibling Day – today is a day to cherish your siblings. To this I submit that there are days we love our siblings with everything in us, and there are days we wish we could disown them.  The thing with siblings though – the older you get, the more you appreciate them.  If you are near your brother or sister, this would be a good day to stop in and say hi, give them a hug or let them know in some way that you appreciate them.

Martin Z. Mollusk Day – I laughed so hard when I was reading about this!  This is the seas version of Groundhog Day!  Oh my gosh, this is funny!  Martin Z. Mollusk goes out for a creep at the beach each year.  If he sees his shadow summer will be a week early.  Bands show up, and lots of people, food booths, etc. JUST to see if this hermit crab sees his shadow today.

Arthritis Awareness Month – The Arthritis Foundation set up Arthritis Awareness Month to help make people more aware of arthritis and the issues involved.  It is a time to motivate Americans to get up and get moving, all while raising funds for arthritis research, support and advocacy. Arthritis Walk events will take place in hundreds of communities throughout the United States.  The funds raised in these walks goes to fight arthritis and chronic joint symptoms which affect 46 million people and nearly 300,000 children in the United States.

“It’s not just an elderly persons disease there are so many people who have this”

“My whole life I have lived with pain”

“Arthritis never goes away, everybody gets it at some point, so we need to keep the research, keep the money available and the programs are good”

Its not just an elderly persons disease, there are so many people who have this.

“I’ve had rheumatoid arthritis since I was ten”

“I’ve had arthritis since second grade”

“I suffer from rheumatoid arthritis & the mother in law – my wife she starting getting some effects of arthritis. We feel that hopefully we’ll ultimately help to find a cure by doing this.”

We all know someone who suffers from arthritis in one form or another.  Seeing them suffer day in and day out, knowing that they will continue to suffer without better medications and hopefully someday, a cure.  Please, consider joining one of those walks, raise funds for research and do your part to help.

Food Celebration of the Day –  Well, YUM!

National Truffle Day – Named for the little rare mushrooms they can sometimes resemble, truffles are a sweet delight that can be filled with anything you imagine.

There were a couple more celebrations, but I made the decision to just delete them – they were a trifle dull and honestly, I was getting sleepy!    Please pray for our country today.  If you celebrate NOTHING else on this list – please pray.  God Bless You.  I’ll see you tomorrow.
