Mmmmm . . . . National Croissant Day . . .

Jan 30th

It’s Thursday . . . It’s Thursday!  Which means we are one teeny, tiny day away from FRIDAY! I know how exciting that is for most of us! I spend all of yesterday just doing domestic stuff around the house, loving it completely.  I feel rested and glad I went to bed a little early.  We have a very quiet day here as celebrations tend to wind down at the end of a month.  It’s actually fine with me . . . my brain is feeling a little fried right now.

National Inane Answering Message Day – I know most of us have come home, pushed the button on our answering machine to hear who called, only to hear a really stupid, rambling message from some telemarketer.  Don’t get me wrong, I know they have a job to do and likely have families to provide for, but that doesn’t make me like getting calls from them.  It could also be a call from someone pulling a prank.  From what I’ve been reading National Inane Answering Message Day is a day to end those numerous, annoying inane messages, but I’d like to know how they feel we should do that? Not have an answering machine, and always check phone numbers on caller I.D.? That’s about the only thing I can think of, except perhaps not having a phone at all.

Food Celebration of the Day

National Croissant Day – Though a symbol of France, croissants were actually invented by Turkish bakers who wanted to celebrate the Ottoman flag by creating a crescent-shaped pastry.

Traditional Buttery Croissants
Strawberry Croissant French Toast
Candy Bar Croissants
Chicken Croissants
Chocolate Banana Croissant Panini
Croissant & Salmon or Ham Breakfast Casserole

And that’s it! Short and sweet – with the food of the day sounding quite delicious!  Wish I could have a croissant right about now.  Since I can’t though, I’ll just daydream over the recipes and plan ahead for a splurge day.
