Today I woke up feeling really relieved about the outcome of the trial we, as a nation, have had our eyes on for all of these weeks. Justice was served, the jury did exactly what they were supposed to do by ignoring the media bias and deciding this case based on the factual evidence presented in court. People I have had respect for in the past have lost my respect this morning, for rather than forming an opinion based on truth, they formed their opinions on false media reports, twisted stories, manipulated and changed audio tapes, and they proved why our country is failing, and failing fast. I can deal with people having a different opinion than mine – because I do believe in the freedom to think for ourselves. What I cannot deal with is people spewing stupidity that is just regurgitated from the media that these days wouldn’t report the truth if it stared them in the face and begged to be told. Considering all that is going on with the outcome of this case, this first celebration seems rather fitting!
PandemoniumDay – What is pandemonium? It is sheer bedlam and utter chaos! Turn on the news today and you’ll see that Pandemonium is running free on all the news channels. Log onto Facebook and you’ll see that rather than intelligent discourse, you find rampant idiocy. It’s crazy out there! Every once in awhile everyone has a day that is like this, but today seems to be more intense than it usually would be. Pandemonium can be defined as a day when all sorts of unexpected things can happen. A time when everything is happening all at the same time and at a very fast pace. It’s sort of like growing up in a daycare! Ten kids running in different directions at the same time, all doing a different activity, making different noises based on that activity . . . pandemonium in motion. If you find yourself in the middle of a whirlwind where Pandemonium prevails, just go with the flow in a calm, cool manner. If it gets to be too much, just quietly remove yourself from the situation. There’s always going to be another confusing day to try again. Sanity usually returns . . . I hope.
National Nude Day – Have you ever watched a small child after they have proudly figured out how to get out of their clothes? They run through the house or yard, giggling and free of all constraints. There is no shame, there are no self-esteem issues based on how they look. In their innocence, they are, displaying the very nature that God gave us when we were born. Sadly, that changes and I can honestly say that even if we didn’t have one single issue or moral problem with running around naked, the percentage of us who could get away with it without causing the rest of the population to throw up is very small. I can honestly say, and this includes myself, that there are very few people who wouldn’t gross me out if they were to streak past. For Nudists though, this is a serious event! They do not consider themselves to be perverts. They believe that the body is beautiful and meant to be displayed, no matter the condition it is in. There are nudist colonies, beaches and other venues where they can walk around as bare as the moment they were born. I won’t pass judgment as to whether this is right or wrong – that’s up to the individual to decide, but I can say that I’ve seen enough men with big old beer guts hanging out shirtless lately that there’s not a chance on the planet I want the misfortune of seeing them in their nothings, and I know that there are at least an equal number of women who shouldn’t be seen that way either. Blech! What is sort of funny though, there are a lot of sites that promote this celebration with Nude Day T-shirts? Doesn’t that rather defeat their point? A T-Shirt on National Nude Day? (I tried to find a non-sleazy picture of one of those t-shirts for an image – couldn’t find one that was appropriate for family reading – so no image on this one)
This Day In History –
Today, please go to the Historical Events Site and take a look at the long list. Please make special note of the dictatorial and cruel crimes against humanity that began to occur in the 1940s. Some of these events started out the same as many events in recent years in our own country – race baiting, squashing free speech, an impartial media is non-existent, Christians being persecuted for their faith, etc. THIS is the road that leads to the events of the 40s. It’s time to change the direction we are heading, or someday people will be reading things like these in the pages of our history.
1798 – 1st direct federal tax on states-on dwellings, land & slaves
1850 – 1st public demonstration of ice made by refrigeration
1853 – 1st US World’s fair opens (Crystal Palace NY)
1933 – Germany began mandatory sterilization of those with hereditary illness
1951 – 1st color telecast of a sporting event (CBS-horse race)
1969 – The United States $500, $1,000, $5,000 and $10,000 bills are officially withdrawn from circulation.
Food Celebration of the Day –
National Macaroni Day – Macaroni is one of those things that just is comforting. When most of us think of it, we think of it all covered in cheese and ooey gooey delicious. I know I do. I remember though, when I was little, Mom would make us tomato soup and she’d put macaroni in it. It bulked it up and made it more filling, but to me it just was something yummy and hot on a cold winter day. It never dawned on me that not everyone ate tomato soup that way until I grew up! Here are a few unusual, and delicious, treats with macaroni in them from www.food.com! May your celebration be delicious!
- Baked Macaroni & Cheese
- Macaroni & Cheese Pizza
- Macaroni Salad
- BBQ Pork- & Pasta-Stuffed Green Peppers
- Chicken Macaroni Casserole
- Mama’s Tomato Macaroni Soup
- Creamy Macaroni Spinach Bake
Well, hopefully you’ll not let current events take away from the joy you should be getting on this gorgeous Sunday. May your day be filled with wonderful moments with those you hold dear. God Bless You and I’ll see you tomorrow!
