Sometimes it is just nice to give a room a bit of a facelift, so to speak. Yesterday hubby and I decided to experiment with how the living room furniture is arranged. Because of the open floor plan, we hadn’t messed around with how we’ve had it set up since we moved in about six years ago. It was feeling rather like being stuck in a rut, you know? Honestly, it was hubby’s idea to move things around. Somehow the room feels larger! Not sure how, but it does. We are still waiting for our living room furniture to be delivered – a chair with ottoman, a coffee table and 2 end tables. It is going to be so nice when they arrive – still no clue when that will be – and we can get this all set up exactly the way we want it. As for what today holds? I don’t really know – beyond heading to the store to get a new coffee pot. Ours decided to die and really needs to be replaced before tomorrow! We have a couple of French presses, and the percolator pot – it’s just so much more convenient to be able to set up the pot on a timer and have it ready when we get out of bed. Saves brain cells if it’s waiting for us to drink immediately.
Camera Day – Remember when getting a good picture took carrying a camera everywhere, then taking the film in to be developed, then the disappointment when you’d paid for 25 pictures and got about 3 good ones? Isn’t it nice that those days are behind us? Between the fancy digital cameras, and now our smart phones, we have a camera with us at all times to catch those special moments as they come up. If we don’t like what we see, we can just delete them! No only has it never been easier to take great pictures with the technology we have, it’s never been less expensive! Nice, right? Beyond that, we now have the ability to take a picture and send it directly to our email, someone else’s email, or to social media. There are moments that I miss the days when we had the excitement of picking up the package of pictures at the store, and flipping through them to see what was there? So many times there were pictures that I’d forgotten that I took, so it was pretty fun to discover them. The last time I found a few rolls and took them in to be developed, I found that they were pictures of my Great-Grandmother and my daughter when my daughter was about 3 months old. Grandma passed away when my daughter was about 4, and weren’t developed until she was nearly 20 – that tells you how long those rolls of film were hiding at the back of the drawer. The way to celebrate today is by taking pictures – and lots of them!
Hug Holiday Day – I love hugs – at least from people I know at least a little bit. There is nothing quite like the feeling you get from a pair of chubby little arms from a child, wrapped around you and squeezing with all the love they have to give. Then there’s a gentle hug that you get from Grandma – and the one you give back is just as gentle because you know she’s a little bit fragile. There all sorts of hugs for all sorts of people and in for many different situations. From the barely there hug with lots of air between you for someone you don’t know very well, to the grab on and bear hug like I get from my son, to the snuggle hug that feels so comforting that I get from hubby. Hugs just feel good and today we are encouraged to give hugs to those who need them, for hugs are very healing. The specific focus for today is about the elderly, sick and invalid, for the lonely and anyone who needs the warmth, cheer and love that a hug provides. I wouldn’t just isolate it to today though – this is one to practice every day.
Waffle Iron Day – Mmmm . . . waffles. There are so many ways to enjoy them – they can be breakfast, lunch, dinner or dessert! You can serve them with fruit, syrup, or even chicken and gravy! To make them though, you MUST have a waffle iron! Do you have one? I have a new one hubby got for me for Christmas, a cast iron one that I can use camping, and my old one as a back-up. Waffle irons come in a variety of styles and shapes, the most common one you’ll find is for Belgian waffles – the ones with the big indentations in them. I prefer the ones with the little indentations – it is easier to get butter into each of the little holes!

Food Celebration of the Day –
Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Month – June is the start of summer and what comes with these warmer months? Fresh fruits and veggies! I know that our celebration of this one goes on year round, but the best fresh fruits and veggies start hitting the markets and gardens right about now. We are going to have a lovely fruit salad later on with watermelon, pineapple, blueberries, grapes and raspberries. YUM. So refreshing on a hot day. The choices are pretty much endless with how much you can do with fresh produce, so make your list and start enjoying!

Hubby is in the kitchen making a healthy version of biscuits and gravy. Well, I made the gluten free, sugar free, dairy free biscuits – and he is making the spicy sweet turkey gravy to go with them. Mmmm . . . I am so hungry! I hope everyone has a fantastic day! God Bless You and I’ll see you tomorrow!
