It’s Sunday! We made it through the night! The storm sounded ugly throughout the night, and after spending most of yesterday afternoon and early evening in the dark, we are more than ready to check out of the hotel and get on the road. The entire town was dark, and from what I could see out the windows, there was a lot of traffic with people driving back and forth looking for someplace to eat. We were prepared, and if you happen to know hubby and me, this won’t surprise you in the least, but I can’t stress enough for everyone – in ALL things be prepared! Seriously! He came ready with four flashlights, and other things that we may need in case of emergency. I came with a cooler of food and a lot of extra water. I didn’t KNOW we’d be eating lunch and dinner in our room, but I just did what I always do and brought enough to make sure we had something “just in case”. We had a little feast actually – between the bread with olive oil and vinegar, the 4 different kinds of cheese, wine, chips and dips and the candy we got at the salt water taffy store – we were set for enough calories to last us several days, not just this one. Finding yourself without what you need is scary and unsettling. If you are always prepared – having blankets and other emergency supplies in the car, something to eat – protein bars at least, and water, plenty of warm clothing, shoes you can be comfortable walking in if your car breaks down . . . all of these things can insure that you are merely inconvenienced, rather than endangered.
National Pharmacist Day – today we give a little shout out to pharmacists, and recognize their important role in medical care. A Pharmacist must be knowledgeable of the chemistry of all the medicines they dispense. That’s a LOTof medications! They must be able to tell you all about what the side effects may be, and how one medication may interact with another. That’s a HUGE amount of knowledge and responsibility! I rarely have to have a prescription filled, so I don’t have a personal relationship with anyone who is a pharmacist, but some people take quite a few different medications, and they have been going to the same pharmacist for quite some time. If you are one of these people, please let them know that you appreciate all that they do for you every time they fill one of your prescriptions, and let them know that their knowledge is appreciated.
Pharmacist Day Quiz: What was the first name of Mr. Gower, the pharmacist in the movie “It’s a Wonderful Life”?
Answer to Pharmacist Day Quiz: Mr. Emil Gower was the Pharmacist. Upset over the death of his son in the war, Mr. Gower accidentally filled a prescription with cyanide. George Bailey caught the mistake. Mr. Gower was played by H.B. Warner (1875-1958).

Food Celebration of the Day –
National Marzipan Day – I can honestly say I have never tried marzipan. But from what I’m reading, before there was Play-Doh, there was marzipan! So what is it? It is a moldable sweet almond paste. You can either play with your food or just get an almond flavor fix with these fun recipes.
This trip to the coast was my birthday present from my wonderful hubby, and though it didn’t exactly go as planned, I had a wonderful time. I love storms at the ocean, always have. I just love them MORE when there’s not also a storm going on at home! Today – which actually IS my birthday – we leave the hotel and find someplace with breakfast that we actually want to eat. The breakfast they served here yesterday would keep us alive, but honestly, it’s not something I care to voluntarily ingest again. After we eat we had home via the scenic route – something I haven’t done in years and years. I can’t tell you how much I am looking forward to it! A road trip with hubby is always fun. Have a lovely day! God Bless You and I’ll see you tomorrow!
